One of the main functions of the Guarantee Fund is to maintain an Information Center that keeps electronic registers of insurance policies under Motor Third Party Liability Insurance (MTPL), of Green Card certificates, of Frontier insurance, as well as of Accident insurances for the public transport passengers.
The Information Center collects data regarding all registered effective policies under the Motor Third Party Liability Insurance (MTPL) and the Accident insurances for the public transport. Also, it is responsible for information exchange among the information centers of the member states.
Information center maintains a register of claims representatives for EEA states, Switzerland or Andorra. According to the Fourth Motor Directive, in cases of road accidents that took place while traveling in those states, the injured persons can file their compensation claims after they return to their home country, through claims representatives.
Through the Information center, citizens and victims of road accidents can access different types of information checks, such as:
- Validity of Motor Third Party Liability Insurance (MTPL) Check
- Validity of Frontier Motor Third Party Liability Insurance Check
- Claims Representatives Check
- Reference on Third Party Liability Insurance (MTPL) and/or Accident insurance for the public transport passengersthat is to be used by the victims of road accidents in case of claims for compensation
